Named Scholarships
These are the eligibility requirements for GYF Named Scholarships:

Applicant must be graduating from an accredited secondary educational institution

Applicant must have applied for admission to at least one accredited institution of higher learning for the Fall of current school term
-
Applicant must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA)
-
Applicant must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA)

Gaynell B. Young Williams Memorial Scholarship
The recipient(s) of this award must be an Active Church Member, graduating high school senior, or a continuing higher education student. Upon the discretion of the GYF Scholarship Committee, if funds are available (specifically for the Gaynell B. Young Williams Memorial Scholarship), more than one scholarship may be awarded.​

Award Amount: $1,000
Gerald Franklin Kessler Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate or continuing college student who has maintained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.000, has earned at least twenty-five (25) Hours of active Community Service within the current school year, must submit a typewritten 500 to 1,000 words Essay on “Building My Community”, and must provide at least one Letter of Recommendation from a school official of current school.

Award Amount: Minimum $500
Eloise Mosley Young Scholarship
The recipient of this scholarship will be awarded to an individual that possesses the qualities and characteristics of Entrepreneurship, Culinary Arts, Economics, Teaching, Business Administration and/or Horticultural Studies. The recipient must attend Savannah State University.

Award Amount: $1,000
Marion "Paulette" Lott Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate who has maintained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.000, has earned at least ten (10) hours of active Community Service within the current school year, must submit a typewritten 500 to 1,000 words Essay on “American History”, and must provide at least one Letter of Recommendation from a school official of current school.

Award Amount: $1,000
Jacob Wilmont Community Athletic Scholarship
This Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior athlete who has participated with the Gainesville-Hall County Boys’ and Girls’ Club(s) and maintained at least a 2.5 GPA. The student must provide at least one Letter of Recommendation from an official of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club(s) of Gainesville-Hall County.

Willie B. Young & Sons - Young's Funeral Home Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a qualified high school senior in pursuit of an undergraduate degree at an accredited four-year college or university in business administration and intends to pursue a career in business.

Dr. Virginia Juanita Young Morrison Advocacy Scholarship
This Scholarship favors a recipient who (1) has earned at least 25 documented community service hours in the current year or (2) a disabled student or (3) a student with a disabled parent. Other documentation needed for this scholarship is a letter of diagnosis from a physician/specialist.

Award Amount: $1,000
Dr. Jimmie C. Jackson Educational Leadership Scholarship
Two scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school students who will attend a college/university or career tracked course of study. Recipients must be actively involved in at least two community service experiences at the time of application and must commit to continue their volunteer/community service through the life of this award.

Lawton & Ella Mae Young Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to an African American student graduating high school senior who is planning to enroll at a Historically Black College or University in the fall of 2023. Applicant must be a resident of Hall County, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Applicant is selected based on their community involvement and by demonstrating a financial need.

Rev. W. L. Whelchel Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is established for all he represented and was for young people. The applicant must be a high school graduating senior within the Northeast Georgia area, who will attend a four-year university and has a 2.5 GPA or higher.

Eloise Young Sheats Memorial Scholarship
It will be awarded to an African American student pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at an accredited college or university. Applicant must be a resident of Hall County, GA, maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be in good standing with their current institution.

Rev. Laura Ashworth Young Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an applicant who is actively engaged with a Church Ministry. The applicant may be a high school graduating senior, a continuing College student, or a preferred applicant residing in North Carolina. GPA: 2.0 or higher

Wilma Sherman Poole Community Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate who has maintained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.000, has earned at least ten (10) hours of active Community Service within the current school year, a church or place of service to the community in Buford or the surrounding area.

Award Amount: $1,500
Book Scholarships
The Grady Young Foundation, Inc. awards nine (9) Book Scholarships to high school seniors who are planning to attend a two or four-year College, technical institution, or university on a full-time basis upon graduation from high school.
To be eligible, the student must reside in and attend a high school in Gainesville-Hall County, Georgia.
